Its going to be one of the biggest blog I am going to write in this Best player in each position series. So lets get started without any further delay.1.)Virgil Van Djik from liverpool
Probably one center back no one will argue that he is not the best. He was Premier league player of the season last season, He was the first defender to since 2006 to enter a ballon d or list in the top two and eventually runner up for the biggest individual award in football.Now talking about him he is good with the ball in his feet, good in duels good in tackles, one of tea greatest manager Pep guardiola said you beat adama traore in the ball he is very fast. But we knew what happen when this two player meet not only Van Djik was able to stop him but silenced him for most part of the match. He is all and all one complete defender.He has scored 4 goals which is a great when you are talking about a defender and assisted on one occasion in the premier league. And also he has played all the matches and played every minute that liverpool had played in this season premier league.
2.)Raphael Varane from Real madrid
One of the most underrated centre back. How can someone be so underrated, he has played excetionally well and is one of the biggest reason with Sergio Ramos that Real madrid are performing so well on the back and conceded very less goal. Also with his physical presence in the box it is very difficult for the opposition attacker to get pass through the World cup winning defender. Also he has scored on two occasion and assisted once in la liga.
3.)Sergio Ramos from Real madrid
Along with Varane there is his partner in defender fro madrid Sergio Ramos, he has been in the limelight for all the bad work he does but you cant deny the fact he is a good defender too.I think of him as a match saviour for madrid whenever madrid are caught on counter Ramos has tackled him not caring he will get a card.He has performed well and needs some appreciation which didnt get as much as he deserved.And he is the centre back and probably only defender who has scored five goal in the league and seven in total.
4.)Gerard Pique from Barcelona
This season pique has been only the bright spot in defence for barcelona and has intercepted in quite crucial times has won the duels and has played 91% of the minutes Barcelona has played in the league the only thing which goes against him is he has got 11 yellow card which is very much. That shows with the age he has slowed down and has tackled late. But he has distributed the ball in the midfield and has scored on one occasions in the league.Barcelona has conceded a lot of goals according to their normal rate, it would have been more if in the defence there was no Pique and in goalkeeping if there was no stegen.
For selecting the top four defenders it was a bit easy but for selecting the rest 4 center back who has been in top form this season and deserves to belong to the list of top defender.
5.) Kouibaly from Napoli
If it has been the same story like the previous one he would surely be in the top list going some competition to Virgil Van Djik but this season Napoli rock solid defender some time referred as mountain has not been in the same kind of fitness he was not able for the important champions league round of 16 game against Barcelona and was set to miss the return leg too but because of this uncertain break he can be available too. Like van djik he is also good in air as well as he has strength and his physical presence in the box cause trouble to the attackers.
6.) Harry Maguire from Manchester united
World's most expensive defender of all time Maguire has often been mocked for the transfer fee and has been called not deserving, but anybody who has seen manchester united playing last season and this season they can easily recognize that he along with Aaron bissaka has been the reason for a little more compact defence from last season. He has been well in distributing the ball and has been in good fitness to play maximum possible minute. After seeing his transfer fee you want him to be good every second of the game which he cant be and he needs one to two more season to be rock solid.
The last two position gave me a headache because the modern football has been all for defenders and they dont get credit for playing well but for the last position I had choose the Juventus and Italy's wall.

If you want to know what is consistency you can learn from them they have done it season and season out, Its has been no hidden fact that with age they have slowed down a bit but because of experience they have got they have their nerves control in some critical situation and distribution has been amazing. Giorgi chiellini was injured for most part of the season because of the long term injury but he has made the list because of his profile.
Some of the big players missing out are
Aymeric Laporte from Manchester city
Laughter was out for most part of the season and we saw that Manchester City was not able to find the replacement for him given the depth of the City's squad. This shows us how important he is for city, and how good he has been for them in the previous season.
De ligt from Juventus
De ligt didnt have the start he would have wanted to start his career in Serie A how it went, first a blunder and then a own goal, and given very less time till when Giorgio Chiellini was fit but when he got his regular time we saw the glimpses of the de ligt we saw the previous year. But he needs to be more consistent in the Italian top flight for being a regular starter.
Conclusion: Van djik is the best center back and along him with I would keep varane as my two best player in the center back position
Our one center back has made it to top four of the list.
