Hello everyone it has been a long time we have not seen football and now we have enough time to discuss what went wrong in this season and how could we improve this season and the next one.
The 32 year old croatian midfielder, Rakitic has been absolutely underperformed and we can draw the conclusion that he played 37% of the starting eleven and hasn't scored a goal, and in itself is enough that he has not performed to the expectation. We had seen Rakitic scoring long range shot and scoring in the volley but this season it seems like Rakitic's shadow is playing.He has assisted thrice.

Before the start of season we loaned out Coutinho and we were left with five midfielders. They were Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de jong, Arthur Melo, Arturo Vidal and Ivan rakitic. Lets talk about each individual.
1.) Sergio Busquets
He was playing quite ordinary under Valverde and every barca fan missed the old busquets who controlled the ball in critical position and move the forward. And many barca fan said that we must bench him and give Frenkie de jong the opportunity to play in the defensive midfield. But when Setien took the charge, busquets was more influencial. The first match setien took the charge of barca, against Granada in Camp nou, Barcelona had the possession for the 77% of the match and busquets completed the most number of pass in that match. The one pass which I remember the most was in a Champions league match against Napoli in Naples when he played the ball forward and semedo passed that ball into the box for Greizmann who eventually scored the goal, and was the Man of the Match. Overall, it has been a mix season for Busquets and has played much better under Setien.He has scored twice and assisted twice as well. He has been the starting eleven for 74% of the time.
2.) Frenkie de jong
Barcelona brought Frenkie de jong from Ajax for 75 million euro after a series of great performance of him in the Champions league 2018-2019 season.I was very excited with this signing. He has been playing in central midfield this season for Barcelona. Which is not the same position he played in that Ajax team. He has been playing in a lot more forward position and sometime therefore looks bit confused whether to shoot or pass the ball. Ronald koeman the Dutch national team boss said that De jong likes to play in a deeper position and he has been playing in a little forward position. But his passing skill has been fantastic, and he has assisted twice and has scored twice out of which the goal against the Real Betis was my favourite, he has started in the 85% times in the starting eleven. He has been playing our of position and therefore struggled sometime, but he can be the future of Barcelona midfield and we should keep faith in him.

3.) Arthur Melo
His season has been injury prone and he has missed six matches because of injury and he has been featured in 44% of starting line, which is quite less given his potential. Because of injury he has missed games but because of it he has been seen more cautious during the game when he runs. He has assisted thrice and scored goal for Barcelona thrice as well.I think in the next season we can see best of Arthur if he remains fit.
4.) Ivan Rakitic

5.) Arturo Vidal
He has started in just 30% of starting eleven, and certsinly that is the main reason he wants to leave Barcelona and go in a team where he will get more playing time. Talking about his performance he has scored six goals and assisted twice. He has been playing like a number 9 after Luis Suarez got injured in January. He has done the best for what he is known box to box midfieder but due to absence of Suarez he had to play as a striker which is not his natural position.
The top three of the list busquets, de jong and Arthur will be at Barcelona next season. But there has been rumoured about Rakitic and Vidal exit. And probably they could be sold to raise fund for buying Neymar or Lautaro.
